Currently, hearing aids cannot reproduce a life-like three-dimensional sound and the sound is even like being congested in the ears of the users. This hinders persons with hearing impairment from locating and responding to the sound. We are going to develop a technology which enables hearing-impaired persons to distinguish the direction and distance of the source of sound. Their ability to react to sound could be enhanced and the daily experience and convenience could be improved.

目前，助聽器不但未能重現類近現實的三維聲音，所呈現的聲音更會有如充塞於使用者耳內，妨礙聽障人士辨別聲音的來源及作出反應。 我們將研發一項有助聽障人士辨別聲音方向及距離的技術，改善他們對聲音作出反應的能力，為他們的日常生活帶來方便。這項技術能透過增設額外微型咪高峰及數碼信號處理模組，結合現有的助聽器發揮功效。
